Mill
Machining, metal, and 3D print calculators
What the bar weighs, where to start the spindle, and what to charge for a printed part.
Steel Weight Calculator
Steel weight calculator for plate, bar, tube, angle, channel, and W-shapes. Densities for steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, copper, and titanium.
Speeds and Feeds Calculator
Speeds and feeds calculator. RPM from surface speed and diameter, and feed from chipload, teeth, and RPM, for milling, turning, and drilling.
3D Print Cost Calculator
3D print cost calculator from filament grams or length, electricity, a machine rate, and markup. The sale price feeds the seller fee tools.
How these calculators work
Steel weight is the volume of the shape times a density. Plate, round and square bar, round and rectangular tube, angle, channel, and a W-shape built from two flanges and a web are the shapes. Densities are room-temperature typical values for carbon steel, 304 stainless, 6061 aluminum, generic brass, copper, and Grade 2 titanium. A mill certificate replaces every one of them.
Speeds and feeds turn surface speed and diameter into RPM, then chipload, teeth, and RPM into a feed. Milling, turning, and drilling share that identity. The surface-speed and chipload table is a set of starting points compiled for this site. The tooling manufacturer’s chart takes precedence. The 3D print calculator prices filament, electricity, and a machine rate you choose, then a markup. That price is the sale the Etsy, PayPal, and Stripe fee calculators start from.
