Formula
US numbers below were read from Etsy’s own fee pages on 2026-10-17. They are constants in this site, not a live scrape. If Etsy changes a rate, the constant and the date change together.
listing = $0.20 × quantity, if you charge it
transaction = 6.5% × (item × quantity + shipping charged + gift wrap)
processing = percent × (that subtotal + buyer tax) + flat fee
offsite = 15% or 12% of the same subtotal, capped at $100 on a US order
profit = subtotal − your costs − fees
Sales tax is outside the 6.5% and outside offsite ads. A regulatory operating fee exists in some countries and is not in this model.
Worked examples
$50 item, US shop, no shipping, no tax, listing fee on. Listing $0.20. Transaction $3.25. Processing 3% × 50 + $0.25 = $1.75. Fees $5.20. With no costs, profit is $44.80.
$20 item, $5 shipping charged, $2 tax, costs $8 + $4 shipping + $1 packaging. The 6.5% is on $25, not on the tax. Processing is on $27. Fees $2.89. Profit $9.12.

Questions
What does Etsy take on a sale?
For a US shop, checked 2026-10-17: a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the item plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge, and Etsy Payments at 3% + $0.25 of the whole charge including tax. A $50 item with no shipping and no tax is $0.20 + $3.25 + $1.75 = $5.20.
Does the 6.5% include sales tax?
No. US sales tax is not in the transaction fee and not in offsite ads. It is in the payment processing fee, because processing is charged on the gross order. This page has a separate tax box for that reason.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads?
If Etsy attributes the order to an offsite ad, the fee is 15% when the shop did under $10,000 in the prior 365 days, and that enrollment is optional. At $10,000 it becomes 12% and mandatory from then on. On a US order the fee caps at $100. Leave the menu on “none” unless this order was attributed.
Which Etsy fees are not in this calculator?
A regulatory operating fee applies in some countries and is not a US fee, so it is not modeled. Currency conversion is an optional 2.5% when the listing currency is not the bank currency. Processing rates for the UK, Canada, Australia, the eurozone, and a few others are in the menu. The menu is not every row of Etsy’s table.
